Happy New Year, Happy New Krissie Mix

Hey, gang. Happy New Year. Look at me…January 5 and already making my first post of the year!

In all seriousness, I had hoped to do this post on New Year’s Day, but I got sidelined by a pretty wicked cold/virus thing. Bummer of a way to start the New Year, but I figure it’s gotta be like rain on your wedding day, right…if you start the week out sick, your year can only go uphill, right? After a week being down, I’m feeling mostly like a human…

…and I finished the Winter Mix! This one came together pretty easily…although there were probably about 15 songs that I dropped from it to keep it a reasonable length. Lots of good music has come out in the past few months… New music from Mighty Oaks, Future Thieves, Fort Frances, Mondo Cozmo, Emerson Hart…so many. Bodes well for 2020, methinks.

The Spotify version is embedded below, and the Apple Music playlist is here.

READ THE LINER NOTES: Warning: I had a LOT to say about these songs, so the notes are a little much. You’ll get all up inside my brain…

As always, if you dig something you hear, please support the artist and buy some of their music, merch, or a ticket to a show. And of course, if you have thoughts that you just can’t keep in about any of the music, I always love to hear people’s reactions. Happy Halloween, pumpkins. Here’s your treat.

As I write this, it’s nearly 1 AM. It’s been a long week already, and it’s just now Wednesday. I’m tired. This post may not make any sense.

It’s officially Halloween, so I thought I’d drop you a treat: The 2018 Fall Mix.

You guys know how I love making my Mixes, right? I’ve been doing it for almost 15 years now. Sometimes the Mixes fall into place easily. Sometimes they take forever to come together. And when the latter happens, I procrastinate. Which is what I did with this one.

But, I think it turned out alright.

So, apologies for the late-in-the-season release, but with Daylight Saving Time coming to an end this weekend, you have a full extra hour coming up to listen to it, right?

If you love the liner notes, you can find them here.

If you’re an Apple Music person, you can listen to the playlist here.

Happy fall listening…and hey, don’t forget to let me know if you find something new to love. Leave a comment below or find me on the socials.

The 2017 Fall Winter Mix

Oh, hey there, folks. Happy merry holidays, everyone!

It’s been a hot second since I put out a Mix. This one’s been brewing for almost half a year now, so I guess it’s about time to put it out into the world. So here it is, my Christmas/Hannukah/Whatever-holiday-you-celebrate gift to you, my 2017 Fall Winter Mix.

Yeah, I’ve been a slacker and this one is a combination of two seasons. Sorry about that. It’s always hard to hit publish when it’s been so long since I started, but I hope that you’ll find a new artist to love among these 30 songs, anyway.

If you’re into reading my rambles about why I love these tracks, you can download my liner notes here.

I do love to hear from you guys if you fall in love with a particular track, or if a song leads you to discover a new band. Plus, who doesn’t love getting messages from friends (or, as has happened before, total strangers who are now amongst my dearest friends … *ahem, Libby and Fred*)? Either way, you know what to do.

Happy Summer! Happy New Krissie Mix!

Hello, my loves. For those of you not in North Carolina where we have had 100 degree temperatures for the last four days straight, I have news for you: summer is here. I couldn’t be happier. Summer is the best season. Summer is my season.

Perhaps that’s why the Summer Mix always seems to come together so easily. It may have taken me forever to get this year’s Spring Mix done, but Summer was the exact opposite. It just worked. Mixes are like that sometimes. Every once in awhile, there’s one where you feel like every song has it’s “fit” with the next. Heck, it’s 1:30 AM right now and I should be sleeping, but I was so darn excited about this Mix that I HAD to write this blog post. Slightly obsessive, yes, but a little endearing too, right?

Love your faces. Go get your happy on with this thing. Grab the notes (and possibly a missing track or two) here.

The 2014 Fall Krissie Mix – Now Available for Your Ears

For more than 10 years now, each season I make a mix CD of new music that I’m listening to and share it with a bunch of friends. A physical CD 4 times a year. That was manageable when it was 10 friends or so. But the list has grown over the years and it’s becoming a bit unwieldy. So, the time has come to go digital. Although there are likely to be some limitations, especially with “new” bands that don’t have a lot of their music out there yet, Spotify seems the most reasonable solution.

So, without further adieu, here’s the 2014 Fall Mix. If you’re a long time Krissie Mixer and want the CD label and liner notes, you can download those here.
