The 2018 Spring Krissie Mix

Well, this one’s been a long time coming.

I’m only 8 days late getting this out the door for the season, which isn’t too bad. But you should know that I originally intended to put it out in January as a second Winter Mix. So, because that didn’t happen, the Spring Mix is a little longer than usual.

Enjoy the roller coaster ride this playlist will take you on. I recommend cocktails on a patio while listening. Happy Spring!

The 2017 Fall Winter Mix

Oh, hey there, folks. Happy merry holidays, everyone!

It’s been a hot second since I put out a Mix. This one’s been brewing for almost half a year now, so I guess it’s about time to put it out into the world. So here it is, my Christmas/Hannukah/Whatever-holiday-you-celebrate gift to you, my 2017 Fall Winter Mix.

Yeah, I’ve been a slacker and this one is a combination of two seasons. Sorry about that. It’s always hard to hit publish when it’s been so long since I started, but I hope that you’ll find a new artist to love among these 30 songs, anyway.

If you’re into reading my rambles about why I love these tracks, you can download my liner notes here.

I do love to hear from you guys if you fall in love with a particular track, or if a song leads you to discover a new band. Plus, who doesn’t love getting messages from friends (or, as has happened before, total strangers who are now amongst my dearest friends … *ahem, Libby and Fred*)? Either way, you know what to do.

The Very, Very Overdue Winter Mix

I could apologize all day, but the fact of the matter is…there just aren’t enough hours in the day anymore. And I destroyed my wrist in an unfortunate slipping on the ice incident. Have I mentioned that I hate winter? Spring, please come soon.

But, wrist injury and no time aside, I finally finished the 2014-2015 Winter Mix and the notes. So please go listen. Notes here, if you are so inclined to read.

What’s on Your Workout Playlist, Volume 4

My love-hate affair with working out is pretty well documented, and right now, I’m in a “hate but must do” phase.  I’ve been trying to get back to it in baby steps. Music is a must for me when trying to work up a sweat, so I spent some time over the weekend cultivating a new workout playlist. I have my old go-tos, of course, but I’m always looking for new music that gets my heart pumping – and from the search results I see on the ol’ web page stats, it seems like a lot of other folks are, too.

So, internet friends, I ask the question once more:  “What’s on your workout playlist?”

Some folks like hard, guitar-driven music while they work out, others like something with a good beat. Rap, rock, pop, dance – I’m a little all-over the place. Here’s what I’ve got so far on my latest workout playlist.

Earworm of the Week: Night Riots, “Remedy”

Been a busy week, but I couldn’t leave ya’ll without a new earworm to kick off your weekend.  The lust for guitar-driven rock continues this week…

This week’s Earworm comes from the California-based Night Riots. Stumbled upon them while watching Saints of Valory on AXS TV‘s YouTube channel, and was instantly hooked by their insanely catchy tune “Remedy.”  The Brit-rock influenced vocal tugs at my heart strings, what can I say? Turns out, the lead singer, Travis Hawley, spent some time in the UK growing up… definitely hear that.

If you dig this track, you can get it for free by signing up for their mailing list. However, be sure to grab their EP, Young Lore. It was fan-funded, which speaks volumes to me about the band.  Plus, they’ve got some really great young writing chops – “Masks” is brilliant (“Does holy water leave you pure of heart? Change your ways.” F-me, that’s awesome), “Loyal Blood” is pretty much my new favorite thing right now…

The band was known as PK until earlier this year when they changed their name, so if you really, really dig what you hear…this is a necessity.

Now…what do I need to do to get them to tour on the East Coast?
